Best Grills Under 1000 Dollars for Consideration

The Weber 15501001 Deluxe Charcoal Grill is the only charcoal option we considered. It is probably the best charcoal grill under 1000 in the market and has a gas ignition system that makes it more convenient than a normal kettle grill, and the cart includes a prep table and charcoal cubby.

The Weber Genesis 6531001 E-330 is one of the best seller Weber products and one of the best overall experience grill for our price range. Even though it keeps the price in the middle of our range, it includes features like a side burner and sear burner. It has a large cooking surface and a gas gauge to warn you when you are getting low on fuel.

The Weber Genesis II E-310 is the odd-ball of the group with fewer features than the E-330 but a slightly larger price tag. The lack of features of this product can be replaced by its beautiful look and sleek design.

The Weber 46510001 Spirit E310 is the little brother of the Weber gas grills with a three burner option and a two burner option including folding side tables. Both take up less space on your deck and cost less than the larger versions.

Reviews of the Best Grills Under 1000 Dollars

Weber 15501001 Deluxe Charcoal Grill

Weber 15501001 Deluxe Premium

View on Amazon

When you think of Weber grills, most people instantly think of charcoal grills and smokers. This model holds true to the stereotype, but offers some perks which you cannot find anywhere else.

This setup is actually a premium kettle charcoal grill version attached to a cart. The frame offers a stainless steel table for an added work space along with racks and hooks for tools and supplies. There is even a bin to store your charcoal and keep it dry.

The grill offers 363 square inches of cooking space with a hinged grate for adding charcoal half way through your cookout. The cooking area is tied for the smallest cooking area of these grills, but so is the price tag.

As with all Weber kettle grills, this model is a master of air control and efficiency. For a three hour cook time at 250 degrees F, you can expect to need only eight charcoal briquettes and two chunks of wood. One bag of charcoal could last you all year.

The advanced features on this grill are what caught me off guard. There is a propane ignition system that allows you to light your charcoal with no lighter fluid. Just turn on the gas, press the ignition, and watch it fire up. There is also a digital LCD timer and thermometer that can remain attached to the lid or can be removed and brought inside with you.

This was also by far the simplest assembly of the grills we reviewed for this list. You can expect to be finished and ready to grill in about 30 to 40 minutes.

The next four Weber grills we included and reviewed in this list are similar in many ways, so I will take a few lines to address the similarities. Then I will go back in future paragraphs to discuss the primary differences.

These grills are all propane grills and all offer a three burner option. Three of them offer a larger cooking area with 507 square inches of grate, and three of the four have porcelain coated cast iron grates for easy cleaning.

These grills all include a temperature gauge in the lid, but the real treat is the gas gauge. This allows any of these models to tell you how much propane you have left before running out. The gauge can help avoid mid-barbecue runs to the hardware store.

All of these models come equipped with a thick cast aluminum grill box and hinges so rust will not be an issue. This design does a great job of evenly distributing heat across the whole cooking surface. The entire construction is made from thick metal as evidenced by the weight of these grills. This particular model is 190 lbs. and feels like it will last and last.

The Weber gas grills all include a grease management system that reduces flare-ups to keep your temperature consistent. They also include their exclusive Flavorizer Bars that add a smoky flavor and help channel grease.

The assembly of all of these units will take just over two hours, but you finish knowing that the frame is solid. The metal is thick enough that the holes are tapped and machine screws are used for assembly. When finished you will also have two side tables to make grilling more convenient.

This particular unit outputs 38,000 BTUs which will take the temperature to 500 degrees F in just a few minutes. It also has a 12,000 BTU side burner and a 10,000 BTU searing burner. This model was modified in 2013 to reorient the burners to the front of the grill. The searing burner helps to increase the temperature faster and to keep the heat more even.

This grill falls in the middle of our price range.

This grill is almost identical to the upper reviewed E-330 Weber Grill, except for a few minor changes.

The main difference is that this grill is missing the side burner and searing burner, which reduces the overall weight to 150 lbs. Without the sear burner, this model is more prone to hot and cold spots. It can also take a while to reach its maximum temperature.

These changes would not be as noticeable if the price was reduced, but this model is actually priced at a higher point. That may be because of this grill's overall improved design and built. It is more good looking and has a more sleek design than its bigger brother and for a few users, design can be a huge decision factor.

Things We Liked

  • Same Benefits as the upper E-330 Weber Grill

Things We Didn't Like

  • No Side Burner
  • No Sear Burner
  • Higher Price than E-330

Weber 46510001 Spirit E310

View on Amazon

This particular model comes in both a three burner version and a two burner version. The three burner has a 424 square inches of cooking area and outputs 32,000 BTUs just like the Genesis models. However, Spirit models are made with less metal and this grill is trimmed down to weigh just 130 lbs.

The two burner version drops your cooking area down to 360 square inches and reduces the power down to 26,500 BTUs. Both of the side tables fold down making this model ideal for those that need a quality grill in a confined space.

The performance of these grills is on par with the other Weber gas grills, and the price is noticeably lower on each. This puts them back in the running for the best value.

Things We Liked

  • Lower Price
  • Folding Side Tables

Things We Didn't Like

  • Smaller Cooking Area
  • No Side Burner

Weber Genesis 6570001 S-330

View on Amazon

This grill is the showpiece of the Weber gas grills. It has a sleek and modern appearance being comprised mainly of stainless steel and chrome accents. It has most of the same features of the E-330 including the side burner, sear burner, and larger cooking area.

We do enjoy the appearance of the stainless steel more than the black panels on the other models. Also, the grates and Flavorizer Bars are made of steel instead of porcelain coated cast iron, so they look better but may need regular cleaning.

The price on this unit is by far the highest we reviewed, and we feel that is more due to the appearance than the functionality, because it features all the options of the E-330 but has a better, elegant stainless steel design.

If you are looking to wow the neighbors with your grill, then it may be worth the extra money for the stainless steel finish.

Things We Didn't Like

How to Choose the Best Grill Under 1000 Dollars

When it is the moment to choose the best product for your needs, there are some things to consider before performing the purchase.

All the mentioned factors down below will help you pick the right grill for your needs and will make you avoid spending money on features and options you may not need or use.

Grill Type

There are three types of grills on the market today; gas, charcoal and electric. The most used ones are the gas and the charcoal ones because the electric grills are usually small, less powerful and portable.

Each grill type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Gas grills are the most preferred type of grills and are mostly used by people who want to grill a meal quickly and barbecue is not really their passion. They are fast to heat and easy to clean but they lack of charcoal flavor.

In the other side, the Charcoal Grills are mostly used by people who have a deep passion for grilling and barbecue and also have more free time to burn. These types of grills required more grilling knowledge as they are a low and slow bbq type of grill.

These grills give the food a more delicious charcoal flavor and are perfect for smoking but take longer to heat and require more clean up.

Grill Size & Cooking Area

Before picking your next grill, think about how many people are you going to be cooking for and how much cooking area do you need.

There might be no need for you to buy a large grill. Large grills will use more gas/charcoal, cost more and take up more space.

If you are going to cook only for your small family or for a group of 2-4 people, then a two burner grill may be enough for you. But if you are planning to cook for large group of people or you organize often barbecue parties or gatherings, then you should consider adding some extra money and purchasing a three burner grill or even a four burner version.

Grill Dimensions

One other factor to consider before picking your grill under $1000, are its dimensions. Plan on your mind where will you place your grill, so you will have an idea how large your grill should be.

Do not buy a large grill if you are limited on space. Remember that every grill needs a buffer zone of a few feet around to account for the heat and for where you will stand when using it.

Grill Extra Features

The extra features on a grill are another factor to consider when picking your grill under 1000 dollars. Each grill model has specific features which make it more practical but also more expensive, so considering if you need these features or not, might save you some extra money and headache.

Conclusion

Selecting the best product under 1000 dollars was a bit difficult for me. I would normally say that I could not live without a good gas grill, but I do love that smoky flavor I get from a Weber Charcoal Grill.

When you are purchasing a grill under $1000, you expect to get a top quality product, with all the necessary features.

Picking and buying a Weber Grill, will give you a product which will likely last 10-20 years. Once you get past reliability, you have to look at the grilling experience and the quality of meat that can be produced.

Best Charcoal Grill Under 1000 Dollars

The propane ignition system on the Weber 15501001 Charcoal Grill is the deciding factor for me to pick it as the Best Charcoal Grill Under 1000 Dollars. This single feature allows me to cook with charcoal in roughly the same amount of time it would take me to cook on my gas grill. With the incredible efficiency of this grill along with the reasonable price, it had to be my grill of choice.

Best Gas Grill Under 1000 Dollars

But, for those folks who don't want a charcoal grill and are looking for the Best Gas Grill Under 1000 Dollars then my choice is the Weber 46510001 Spirit E310. This model has everything you require on a high-quality gas grill. With 38,000 BTU and 637 square inch of cooking space, this grill is capable of cooking a large amount of food at the same time. There is a 2 burner and a 3 burner version, so you can choose depending on how much space do you have.

It comes with extra side panels, individual electronic ignition system for each burner, flavorizer bars, heat deflectors, built-in thermometer, 6 tool hooks and a lot of other useful and needed features, all packed in a product at the middle of our price range.

Also, If you are looking for a Weber alternative, the direct competitor for a Weber grill would be the Napoleon LEX485RSIBPSS. The Napoleon only provide the best and the highest quality grills and as a result, their products are a bit expensive. Some of the most uncommon features for this particular model are a double walled lift stainless steel lid, jet fire ignition system, stainless steel side shelves with integrated tool hooks, ceramic infrared rear burner, integrated ice bucket and cutting board, all packet into the top of our price range.
